A shade of spring

Bourjois have been doing some blue sky thinking for their newest spring additions. Their Little Round Pot Eyeshadow, £6.99 in shade 19 is an ultra pretty and delicate ice blue. It highlights the eye something wonderful. The matching  So Glossy Nail lacquer polishes off the look perfectly.

Perfecting nails is rather like decorating. You have to prepare the canvas.Cracked walls do not make for a smooth paint job. A bish-bosh bodged job shows and it’s rather like that with polish. Manicurists will say skimp on a base coat at your peril. I say the same. In a rush, I have taken the short cut of going straight for the polish and it’s been a waste of colour. The application is far from flawless, it shortens the polishes nail life, and I’ve kicked myself when the naked nail has been stained with a dark pigment. Leaving my nail neglect behind, I now pay as much attention to my base coat as to the shade I’m going to wear.

Nail inc. Kensington Caviar base coat £15 is, as its name suggests, upgrades the nail plate.  I was introduced to it on a shoot by the make-up artist and haven’t stopped using it since. For nails that tend to be on the dry side it’s a beauty send. After applying, the nails look healthy and nourished therefore giving the foundation for polish to literally glide on and dazzle. All thumbs from me!

Dior's nail encore

These Dior new spring varnishes are the equivalent to the first heads of daffodils making their appearance in the garden. Although not yellow, their ballerina like colours signal lighter and brighter days, a spring in your step and the promise of sunshine to come.

Like a line up at The Royal Ballet, Tutu, Gris Trianon and Rosy Bow are names to evoke the most delicate of shades. But far from looking pale and uneventful, each shade is punctuated with a level of pop to leave nails looking glossy and seductive. Worthy of a  fingertip encore!

Just a mega quick post to show you Bobbi Brown’s new limited edition Shimmer Nail Polish in Black Pearl. Yes, Halloween may be over, but this tough luxe of a nail lacquer – mid way between black and a dark grey, still looks fashionably edgy.

My heart always skips a beat when new polishes land from planet beauty. Like precious jewels they bestow fingertips and toenails with a smash of excitement and glamour.
